SO NOW WE ARE DOING LIGHTS OFF?
It’s yes! I’m not sure how turning lights on became an industry standard. The last thing I want at 9 am is to have all the lights on at my house!
Here are a few reasons why I am a lights off advocate:
The home looks more airy, natural, and homey (check my gallery!)
Check out Architectural Digest and all the other interior design publications. One thing in common is that lights are always off (except from a select few statement lights). These home publications showcase homes that are desired by most people so we would love homebuyers to feel the same way!
Lights on feels artificial and unnatural—it’s a sunny noon in LA. Let’s show how stunning the natural light looks!
So many shadows! With so many different light sources, each light is creating their own shadows across the room. Let’s have one natural light shadow illuminate the room.
But aren’t the homes darker if the lights are off? I’ve had a ton of clients ask and the answer is no! With the latest camera technology, even dark rooms can be bright.
